Countdown To Dublin: Franklin Radio Show Set To Debut This Week

by on August 19, 2014 6:00 AM

Penn State football's Thursday radio show is back and this time James Franklin will be taking your questions as his first season in Happy Valley unfolds.

The show will hit the air again this coming Thursday at Damon's Grill on East College Ave starting at 6:05 p.m. It will continue through the end of the football season.

Franklin won't be at the show every week, with assistants and the occasional player making an appearance. Steve Jones, the radio play-by-play voice of the Nittany Lion football will once again act as host of the show this year.

What should be interesting for both listeners at home and those watching in person is how Franklin handles tough questions. With injuries still at a minimum and not a single loss on Franklin's Penn State resume Franklin hasn't had to address difficult issues in a public setting.

Franklin has been on a mission to win over fans, taking selfies and talking up almost everyone within reach. So it's unlikely he'll ever show the same kind of slight annoyance that Bill O'Brien did during his two years on the radio show. In any case, it will be an intriguing showcase of fan interaction as Franklin begins his Nittany Lion broadcasting career.
