Countown To Dublin: We're Going To Ireland!

by on August 25, 2014 1:00 PM

You might have noticed that has been counting down the days to Dublin over the past few weeks as Penn State prepares for its season opening game against UCF.

Part of the excitement is because the Nittany Lions are starting a new season that should be filled with great stories.

But we're also excited because will be making the trip too.

That's right, reporter Ben Jones is packing his bags and flying out of Washington, DC on Tuesday afternoon. He's heading all the way to Ireland to cover the first game of the James Franklin era. Naturally, he'll have up-to-the-minute information about the game and the team, but there will be plenty to read about the city, the culture and the people of Dublin.

The Nittany Lions will be taking a bus tour of the city, visiting a pep rally, eating dinner at the Guinness Storehouse and practicing in preparation for the game.

The trip is made possible by our corporate sponsor, the Shaner Hotel Corporation. If you're traveling to Happy Valley this fall and need a hotel room, click on a banner in one of our stories this week and sign up for a VIP card on the website to get great discounts on many hotels in the region.

We hope you're ready for the first week of Penn State football's 2014 season. We'll bring it too you as it happens in Dublin. You can read all about it right here at
