Crash with Injuries Causes Traffic Light Outage

A crash involving two injuries caused a traffic light outage Sunday in Patton Township.

The crash happened about 1:53 p.m. at the intersection of North Atherton Street and Colonnade Boulevard, according to the Patton Township Police Department.

Police say Daniel Laplante of State College was attempting to make a left turn from North Atherton Street when he pulled into the path of Mi Kyeong Park of Port Matilda.

After the initial impact, police say Park's vehicle went off the east side of the roadway and hit a traffic light control box, which caused loss of power to the traffic light system.

Both drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Mounty Nittany Medical Center by Centre Life Link ambulance.

Authorities had to direct traffic at the intersection for several hours while the Patton Township Public Works Department temporarily repaired the signal control box.

Other agencies assisting at the scene included, Alpha Fire Company and PennDOT.
