Police say a diabetic emergency led to a crash on South Atherton Street near Meyer Dairy on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened about 2:30 p.m. when Layne Halfpenny, 32, of Lewistown, was traveling southbound on South Atherton Street and Naomi Boliek, 87, of Centre Hall, was facing north in the turning lane to enter into the Meyer Dairy parking lot.

Police say Halfpenny, who has no memory of the crash, suffered a diabetic emergency and veered into the turn lane colliding head-on with Boliek's vehicle.

Boliek suffered multiple injuries, including an injury to her forearm, police say. First responders transported Boliek and Halfpenny to Mount Nittany Medical Center.
