Early Reports Show Crime Numbers Down on State Patty’s Day

The initial State College Police crime numbers are in, and it looks like the drinking holiday might be losing its luster.

Through 8 a.m. Saturday morning, police are reporting a 45 percent drop in crime. Only 20 arrests were made all day Friday and into Saturday.

 

 

 

The downturn has been palpable, too. Although admittedly unscientific, I took a few laps around downtown this afternoon and saw very little commotion or destruction. There was still a fair amount of green and a number of visibly drunk folks meandering around, but businesses and sidewalks are far less crowded than just two years ago.

Even the State College Police Department is having a little fun today…
