Energy Efficient Prison To Be Built

According to the Daily Collegian, the state is planning to build a new state prison on the same grounds as the existing State Correctional Institute at Rockview to help with overcrowding.

The new prison will be a separate, medium security prison and it will hold about 2,000 inmates.  The cost of the new prison will be $200 million and the funding will come from the state capital budget.  The new prison is expected to be completed by late 2011 or early 2012.

The new facility will be in compliance with the LEED energy compliance standard.   (Read More)
