Fatal Car Crash Kills Driver

According to a press release from the Patton Township Police Department, a fatal car accident occurred Sunday evening at about 6:10 p.m. on East Clearview Avenue in Patton Township.

The driver of the vehicle, Craig A. Johnson, 20, of State College was pronounced dead at the scene.  The passenger, Vadim Trushov, 21, also of State College, was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center with serious injuries and was later flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

According to witness statements, the car, a 1995 Volvo, was traveling at a very high rate of speed on a wet street surface when the driver lost control and left the roadway, striking a tree then a residence at 162 East Clearview Avenue.

Accident re-constructionists are conducting further investigation into the crash.  Any witnesses to the crash that have not already spoken to the investigators are asked to call the Patton Township Police Department at 234-0273.
