Flash Flood Watch is in Effect for Centre Region, Again

by on July 02, 2013 12:47 PM

Once again, the National Weather Service is posting a Flash Flood Watch for State College and much of central Pennsylvania.

There's a large area of tropical moisture that's feeding heavy showers and thunderstorms. Radar shows bands of storms sweeping across the Mid-Atlantic states.

Those storms could produce more than two inches of rain per hour. Intense rainfall like that can cause flash flooding, especially in low lying areas.

Recent storms have saturated the ground and most streams are now running above normal levels and that increases the possibility of flooding.

The flood watch remains in effect through this evening.

If you're in a car, do not drive across flooded roadways. Be sure to monitor weather reports for updated information. Click HERE to see the latest AccuWeather forecast.
