The National Weather Service has announced a flash flood watch that will be in effect Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening in the State College area.
It will remain in effect until midnight between Saturday and Sunday, according to a post on AccuWeather.com. A wind advisory will be in effect from 10 a.m. Saturday until midnight, as well.
According to the AccuWeather.com post, a frontal system is expected to bring heavy rain to the region starting sometime Saturday afternoon. Already-wet soil paired with perhaps two inches -- or more -- of new rain could lead to flash flooding.
Meanwhile, as Penn State prepares to celebrate its annual Blue-White Weekend, the university has adjusted its planned parking accommodations around Beaver Stadium. it's encouraging football fans to leave RVs at home, since saturated field conditions will mean fewer parking spaces will be available.
Lot 12 and the grass area of the Stadium West lot will not be available, thanks to the wet conditions, the university reported. More complete details are posted via Penn State Live.
