Flood Watch Still in Effect for Centre Region, More Rain Possible
Update: 9:30 a.m.
A Flood Watch issued by the National Weather Service will remain in effect through Thursday evening. We're expecting to see several rounds of heavy showers and thunderstorms through the day. There is a slight risk that those storms could produce strong winds and hail.
There is the possibility of flooding along small streams and creeks. During periods of heavy rain, motorists should watch for ponding on roads. There could be flooded streets and underpasses. The flood watch will expire at 8:00 p.m.
The National Weather Service has declared a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the Centre region. There is a line of powerful storms moving through Thursday morning, which is capable of producing destructive winds over 70 mph.
The Severe Thunderstorm Warning will remain in effect until 7:30 a.m.
Large hail is possible. A large number of lightning strikes is associated with this storm.
The National Weather Service has also posted an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Centre County. Heavy rainfall could trigger rapid rises on streams and flooding in areas with poor drainage.
If you're driving, watch for ponding on roads. There could be flooded streets and underpasses.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is also posted. The watch will remain in effect until 11:00 a.m. Thursday.
