Frazier Earns First Team Senior CLASS Award Honors

After a senior year that earned him a spot on the All-Big Ten Third team, fifth year point guard Tim Frazier was named to the First Team Senior CLASS Award.

The Senior CLASS Award, according to its site, is  an “acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School. The Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.”

The honor is determined by a nationwide panel of voters, comprised of coaches, media, and fans. The award looks for prominence both on and off the court in four distinct fields: classroom, community, character, and competition.

Creighton’s Doug McDermott won the overall award,  joining Frazier on the first team. Fellow Big Ten star and Ohio State guard Aaron Craft was also named to the first team, along with Iowa State’s Melvin Ejim and Florida center Patric Young.

Frazier scored 14.9 points and dished out 5.4 assists per game this season, both decreases from his prolific junior year. Still, Frazier was tenth in the Big Ten in per game scoring, and led the league in per game assists. This was his first season after rupturing his Achilles tendon in 2012.

Earlier this season, Frazier became only the second player in Big Ten history to record 1,000 points, 600 assists, and 500 rebounds in a career.
