by on October 23, 2013 7:05 AM

Update 11:00 a.m.

The National Weather Service has replaced the earlier Freeze Watch with a Freeze Warning.

Freezing temperatures are now considered likely overnight.

The Freeze Warning is posted for State College and surrounding areas from 2 a.m. until 9 a.m. Thursday.

That means you'll need to take steps to protect your garden. Potted plants that are usually left outdoors should be covered or moved inside.

Get ready to bundle up! The weather will be turning sharply colder over the next 24 hours.

The National Weather Service has posted a Freeze Watch for State College and surrounding areas.

A cold front moving across the nation will bring us the coolest temperatures we've seen so far this fall.

The Freeze Watch will be in effect early Thursday -- from 2 a.m. until 9 a.m.

Low temperatures should hover around the freezing mark. That brings the potential for a freeze that will damage sensitive plants and crops.
