A new spa offering a variety of massage therapies, services and amenities in downtown State College is getting ready to open its doors.

Revive Modern Massage, located in the Allenway Building at 311 S. Allen St., will hold a grand opening from 5 to 7 p.m. on Jan. 30.

Owner Alexa Krepps is also one of three therapists on staff who will offer services such as therapeutic massage, manual lymphatic drainage, reiki, hot stone massage, pregnancy massage, couples massage, and oncology massage for patients who are undergoing or who have completed chemotherapy.

“We have a Japanese barefoot therapy called Ashiatsu, which is great for people who have dense muscle tissue or who prefer deep pressure," Krepps said. "We are also the only spa in the area who offers body contouring, a cosmetic technique designed to be a noninvasive alternative to liposuction, cool sculpting or surgical face lifts.”

The spa also offers a self-care center with retail products, a sauna and vitamin D lamp. The location includes a 30-foot water feature to promote a relaxing environment, as well as a tropical plant atrium and an original sculptured water fountain by local artist Rob Fisher. The business has seven free parking spaces and appointments for services can be made online.

Krepps has been practicing since 2005 and has worked with touring productions of Cirque du Soleil and with the Philadelphia 76ers. Fellow therapist Sean Holt has been practicing massage since 2000 and also worked extensively with Cirque du Soleil as massage therapist for performers and touring staff. They are joined by Jillian Seraphin, who has certifications in a number of therapies.

The Penn State Small Business Development Center assisted Krepps in opening the business.

“It was such a pleasure to work with Alexa,” said Jennifer Riden, business consultant with Penn State SBDC. “She attended our ‘First Step to Small Business Success’ seminar and from there she worked closely with our consultants to have what she needed in place to officially hold the ribbon cutting and open the doors to clients. I hope to continue working with her in the future.”

The Jan. 30 grand opening will include music by Urban Fusion, light appetizers served by Bellefonte Waffle Shop and refreshments from Good Intent Cider. A special pricing option will be offered to body contouring clients who sign up the day of the event, as well as a raffle for a complimentary hour-long spa party for four people.
