Grass Parking Lots To Close for Michigan State Game

by and on November 29, 2014 8:00 AM

Penn State’s Senior Day game against Michigan State on Saturday will have a less impressive tailgating scene than usual.

All grass car parking lots, both reserved and gameday, will be closed due to Wednesday’s snow and the wet ground conditions.

Penn State is encouraging drivers who normally take RVs to the game to instead take a passenger vehicle, and they should leave extra time for parking. A news release from the university also notes that remote lots not owned by Penn State are drug, alcohol, and tobacco free.

“Penn State is asking football patrons coming to the Big Ten East Division clash to be patient and understanding, as the wet conditions in the area could take 2,500 or more parking spaces offline for the game,” reads the news release. “Gameday operations staff will direct impacted vehicles to alternate parking lots.”

Penn State is offering free shuttle services from off-campus lots to the stadium from noon until an hour after the game. Eight shuttle routes will be running to bring attendees from outer lots back to Beaver Stadium and vice versa. Anybody with a parking permit can park in a remote lot and take a shuttle to the game at no cost.

Here are the eight shuttle routes Penn State will provide:

Route 1: Innovation Park (100 Building Lot, 103 Building Lot & 329 Building Lot)

Route 2: Mountain View Country Club (100 Elks Club Road, Boalsburg), Mount Nittany Middle School (656 Brandywine Drive)
