Two medical helicopters were called to the scene of a three-vehicle crash near Boalsburg on Friday.

The crash happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Atherton Street and Shingletown Road.

An entrapment and multiple injuries were reported with the crash involving a Dodge pickup truck, a Chevrolet sedan and a Cadillac SUV.

Two helicopters were brought to the nearby Pennsylvania Military Museum grounds and transported two patients from the scene.

State College Police, Boalsburg Fire Company, Alpha Fire Company and Centre LifeLink EMS responded. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation assisted with traffic control.

Flaggers controlled traffic on South Atherton Street and the road remained open. Shingletown Road westbound from South Atherton Street was closed for about two hours while police investigated the scene and the vehicles were removed.

All three vehicles appeared to sustain heavy damage.
