Huntin’, Fishin’ and Climbin’ Every Day: Luke Bryan Visits Penn State Basketball Practice

by on February 22, 2018 7:48 PM

Luke Bryan took a break from preparing to kick the dust up in the home of Penn State basketball to visit the team’s practice Thursday afternoon.

The team’s Twitter and Facebook accounts shared a picture of Pat Chambers and Bryan, who was holding none other than a “Climb With Us” shirt.

Despite being from Georgia, Bryan has become a friend of Penn State basketball. After all, he’s been known to regularly shoot hoops on the road while touring, even with NBA players like Jimmy Butler, who appeared in Bryan’s “Light It Up” music video.

When he last visited campus in 2016, Bryan crashed the basketball team’s party practice to play a game of pickup basketball with country band Little Big Town and former players Tim Frazier, Ross Travis, and Nick Colella.

About a year later, when Blake Shelton visited campus for the Happy Valley Jam at Beaver Stadium, the Penn State basketball account tweeted to him to invite him to play a pickup game just like Bryan previously had.

At 6 feet 5 inches, Shelton likely would’ve matched up with big men Mike Watkins and Julian Moore in the post, while the much smaller Bryan draws more comparisons to Shep Garner as a strong shooter on the perimeter with a lot of range.

Pat Chambers wasn’t the only Penn Stater excited for Bryan’s return to Happy Valley. The Nittany Lion and Penn State football accounts are both each showed they’re “in that country music gang” by tweeting to him Thursday in anticipation of the concert.
