Jesse Arnelle Withdraws From Board of Trustees Race
The 32-member Board of Trustees candidate field lost one prominent member Tuesday.
Jesse Arnelle, who has served as a trustee for 45 years, has “WITHDREW” next to his name on the Board’s election website.
The news was first reported by Lori Shontz of the Penn Stater Magazine, who explained it this way:
“Arnelle’s name still appears on the ballot to keep the ballot numbers of the other candidates consistent, the board office staff said. But voters will be unable to vote for him. When the the electronic ballots are issued April 10, there will be no box to check next to his name.”
Along with Joel Myers, Arnelle was one of two alumni trustees running for reelection.
The third incumbent, Marianne Alexander, decided not to run from the beginning.
The current election climate is quite unfavorable to incumbent trustees but it's not known whether that was a factor Arnelle's decision to withdraw.
