Letter: Jake Corman Is a Strong Supporter of Law Enforcement

on October 29, 2018 4:00 AM

As the wife of someone in law enforcement it isn’t easy watching them leave every day for work. My husband puts his life on the line every minute of every day he is at work. That is why it is so comforting to have someone like Jake Corman serving in the legislature, because I know Jake has the back of those in law enforcement.

As our state senator, Jake has been a loud voice making sure law enforcement, including state troopers, have the resources they need to protect our communities. Jake has supported increases in the trooper complement and has worked with the troopers' leadership to ensure they have access to funding they need to safely protect our families.

Jake has also been a leader that understands the unique jobs men and women like my husband have. While Jake has been a champion of reforming our pension system to protect taxpayers, he’s also made sure that law enforcement at all levels have a system that takes into account their unique situations. Jake protected the pensions of those who risk their lives while also making sure taxpayers were protected.

At a time when it seems more acceptable to attack police officers, Jake has been a champion for our men and women in blue. He hasn’t just talked about supporting police, he’s actually done it as a state senator. It’s no wonder he’s been endorsed by the Pennsylvania State Troopers and the Fraternal Order of Police.

I appreciate Jake’s work on important issues like record funding for schools, making college more affordable, and holding the line on spending. However, as a law enforcement spouse, nothing could be more important to me than his continued support of law enforcement.

Jake Corman is a good leader and a friend of those who serve.  I hope you will join me in supporting Jake on November 6.\
