Liquor Store Window Broken, Wine Stolen Overnight

by on April 01, 2015 3:16 PM

Boxed wine isn't the most expensive kind of wine out there, but someone in State College apparently wanted some for free.

State College police say that someone broke the window of the Wines and Spirits store on Hamilton Avenue late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning sometime before 4:08 a.m. The only thing that appears to be missing are some cases of boxed wine that were located near the window.

Police say there is video surveillance from inside the store, but it appears that the culprit didn't actually go inside.

One officer called the incident a "smash and grab," as only items within reach of the window were stolen. Police were unable to estimate the value of the stolen wine.

The liquor store window is currently boarded up, but the store remains open for business. Store employees declined comment.
