LIVE COVERAGE: Board of Trustees to Convene Friday, Three New Members to be Announced

by on May 04, 2012 6:00 AM

When the Penn State Board of Trustees congregate Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the boardroom of the Nittany Lion Inn, they will have a full agenda, even after the three new board members are announced.

Voting closed at 9 a.m. Thursday and a record number of 37,579 votes were cast in a historic election that attracted 86 candidates.

Campaign fever caught fire after the current board fired former Penn State President Graham Spanier and former Penn State football head coach Joe Paterno Nov. 9 in wake of the child sex abuse allegations against former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.

After revealing the new members, who begin their three-year terms July 1, the 32-member board will move onto the rest of the agenda.

Current Penn State President Rodney Erickson will give his opening remarks before the rest of the meeting moves forward.

Details, so far, are limited, but will include reports from various committees, including the Academic Affairs and Student Life committee, the Committee on Audit, Risk, and Legal Compliance, the Committee on Finance, Business, and Capital Planning, the Committee on Governance and Long-Range Planning, and the Committee on Outreach, Development, and Community Relations.

The board meeting will be streamed live by Penn State Public Broadcasting on their website. You can follow along with live updates from the meeting via the Cover-it-Live box embedded in this post.
