UPDATE @ 11:30 a.m. Feb. 10: Judge Cleland has adjourned the hearing, which ran just more than an hour. He said he will rule soon on the matters raised today. He also said he's setting May 14 as a target date for a trial.

At one point in the hearing, Sandusky himself briefly took the stand -- for about five minutes. He answered questions specifically about the prosecution's request for an out-of-county jury. No prosecution arguments he heard today have swayed his opinion that an in-county jury would be acceptable, Sandusky said.

He offered short, often-one- or two-sentence answers to Cleland's procedure-related questions. At times, Sandusky smiled and laughed lightly.

A hearing for two points of contention in the Jerry Sandusky criminal case is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday in Bellefonte.

There, at the Centre County Courthouse, Judge John M. Cleland will hear a prosecution request for an out-of-county jury in the case. He also will hear a defense request for loosened bail conditions -- including an opportunity for Sandusky to visit with his grandchildren while he remains under house arrest.
