In celebration of Local Foods Week, the Boalsburg Farmers' Market will present the Golden Basket Award to one winning local chef on Tuesday.

Centre County chefs competing in the cook-off include:

  • Jamie Steffen, the American Alehouse
  • Zach Lorber, Foxdale
  • Harrison Schailey, Harrison's
  • Andrew Monk, the Nittany Lion Inn
  • Pete Herncane, Otto's
  • Craig Hamilton, the Village at Penn State

The chefs will use fresh ingredients straight from Farmers' Market vendors, preparing each dish in front of market guests. A panel of five judges will taste each judge's one main dish and two side dishes and some chefs will offer a sample of their work to market patrons.

The winner will receive the "Golden Basket Award."

Local Foods Week runs Aug. 4-7. The competition runs from 2-4 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Pennsylvania Military Museum, the site of the Boalsburg Farmers' Market.

Ample free and convenient parking is available on-site.
