Local Food Truck Shutting Down

by on October 11, 2018 11:19 AM

A fixture of the North Atherton Street Farmers Market and other special events around the area for the past three years is closing up shop.

Street Meat food truck announced on its Facebook page this week that Nov. 10 will be its last day of operation.

The food truck has sold comfort food using grass-fed, pasture-raised meat from Mountain View farm in Bellefonte, which owners Susan Smith-Shannon and her husband, Kerry, bought from her father and stepmother four years ago. Smith-Shannon started by selling meats at the farmers market and a year later added the food truck to offer freshly cooked dishes.

The Facebook post said they are selling the farm, and as a result, Street Meat will shut down operations.

"I have loved every minute of cooking for, serving, and meeting you. I cannot thank you enough for your support over the last 3 years," the post said.

Street Meat will continue to be at the North Atherton Street Farmers Market for the next five weeks. The market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays in the Home Depot parking lot.
