Man Hospitalized After Early Morning Assault

State College police are looking for a suspect after an early morning assault that sent a man to the hospital.

The incident happened at about 1 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of South Pugh Street.

Investigators say the victim, a 22-year-old Penn State student, was walking near the Days Inn hotel when the suspect crossed the street and attacked him.

According to police, the suspect was walking with a group of people just prior to the assault.

The victim was taken to the Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment of injuries to his head and face. He was later transferred to Geisinger Medical Center. There's no word on the extent of his condition.

Investigators are checking to see if there may be surveillance video of the assault.
