Man Sentenced for Prowling and Assaulting a Police Officer
A man found prowling outside the window of a State College teenager last March has been sentenced to serve three to 10 years in state prison.
Dirk Millmore, 61, of Williamsburg, pleaded guilty last month on charges of aggravated assault, indecent exposure and prowling.
The conviction also carries with it the stipulations that Millmore is not allowed to be in the lone company of anyone under the age of 18 and that he undergo sexual offender treatment.
The charges were filed after an incident that happened on McKee Street on March 12. At about 8:30 p.m., a neighbor called police, telling them about a man dressed in dark clothing who was lurking around a home.
Prosecutors say Millmore was peering through the window of a 13-year-old girl while he was masturbating. Millmore was found hiding in shrubs by State College Police.
Millmore ran into another backyard where he picked up a two-by-four and took a swing at an officer, narrowly missing him. Additional officers were finally able to subdue Millmore.
The 13-year-old girl reported she had seen what she believed to be camera flashes outside her window on a separate occasion weeks earlier.
Millmore also has under his belt convictions on charges of burglary and aggravated assault.
Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller says she's thankful a threat was removed because of the actions of a neighbor.
"Given the Defendants prior encounters with the law, and his actions that night he clearly presented a danger to our community, where he chose to peer into the bedroom of a child under the cover of darkness," Parks Miller said in a news release.
