Mild Weekend for State College Before More Snow, Frigid Temperatures
The State College area will get a break from the winter blues, briefly, this weekend.
But days of frigid weather will follow.
AccuWeather Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski says Saturday will balmy with some sun, and at times breezy, with a high near 50 degrees.
"The weekend itself isn't going to be all that bad compared to the crazy cold weather we've had over the last two months," he says.
It will still be on the mild side Sunday, however, a weak cold front will come through the area, which could bring some rain or snow. At most, the State College area is expected to see a slushy coating to one-inch of snow. The high for Sunday will be in the mid 40's.
Next week, temperatures will get progressively colder with Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday's high being in the 20's. For Friday and Saturday the highs will be in the teens and the lows near zero.
And that's not the worst of it.
There is a chance of snow on Tuesday and Wednesday. For Tuesday, the State College area should see, at most, a couple of inches of snow.
Then a stronger storm system could come through the area that could potentially bring very heavy snow.
