by on March 11, 2019 10:50 AM

Christine Millinder announced that she is running for a second term as Centre County register of wills and clerk of the Orphans' Court.

A resident of Pleasant Gap, Millinder was first elected to the position running as a Republican in 2015. Prior to that, she worked in the office for 28 years as a clerk and deputy register of wills.

The register of wills is responsible for probating wills and granting letters of administration when a person dies without leaving a will. The position also maintains records of wills, estate inventories and other documents, and acts as an agent of the Commonwealth for collecting inheritance tax.

The dual role of clerk of the Orphans' Court issues marriage licenses and keeps marriage records, as well as processing and maintaining guardianship documents and reports for minors and incapacitated individuals.

Millinder is a member of the Register of Wills & Clerks of Orphans’ Court Association, where she serves on the executive board and chairs the training committee for all newly elected registers and clerks in Pennsylvania.

She is also an involved member of Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte and an associate member of the the Bald Eagle F.O.P. Lodge #51.

Tuesday is the last day to circulate and file nomination petitions and the primary election is May 21.
