One of the most acclaimed classical ballets of all time is coming to Penn State’s Eisenhower Auditorium, as the Moscow Festival Ballet will perform “The Sleeping Beauty,” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 31.

Set to a score by Tchaikovsky, the ballet is inspired by the Charles Perrault fairy tale in which an evil fairy condemns a princess to die on her 16th birthday. When the Lilac Fairy changes the curse, the princess falls into a deep sleep until a prince’s kiss awakens her.

Artistic Viewpoints, an informal discussion featuring visiting artists, will be held one hour prior to the performance and is free to ticket holders.

Tickets for the Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State presentation—$45 for an adult, $22 for a University Park student, and $28 for a person 18 and younger—may be purchased online at www.cpa.psu.edu or by phone at 814-863-0255 or 800-ARTS-TIX. Tickets are also available at four State College locations: Eisenhower Auditorium (weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), Penn State Downtown Theatre Center (weekdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), HUB-Robeson Center Information Desk (weekdays, except March 7–11, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and Bryce Jordan Center (weekdays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.).

Bolshoi Ballet dancer Sergei Radchenko founded the Moscow Festival Ballet in 1989 and continues to lead the company as artistic director.
