Fans headed to the Penn State-Ohio State game at Beaver Stadium on Saturday should more traffic delays and congestion than usual around State College.

"Roadways used to access parking lots will have increased traffic volume and waiting times because of the anticipated attendance for the game," according to an advisory from State College police. "The addition of ESPN College Game Day on campus resulting in some fans arriving earlier than usual will create backups and delays along many roadways around town."

Multiple construction projects around the area are expected to contribute to the delays as well.

Parking for lots around Beaver Stadium is already sold out and fans who arrive without a permit will be redirected. Those without parking permits are encouraged to use campus or downtown parking garages and use the CATA game day shuttle, walk or or take an Uber to the designated stadium drop-off area.

"We encourage motorists to plan their route and parking in advance and count on extended wait times in the traffic pattern to enter stadium lots," the police advisory said. "We urge those going to the game to use alternate parking areas, including downtown municipal parking garages with available shuttle service when possible to reduce traffic on the roadways."

Fans with parking permits should follow directions on the back of the permit for travel to the game. Route 322 and I-99 are recommended for accessing stadium parking. Backups are expected on Atherton Street and College Avenue and should be avoided if possible.
