New Allegation of Sexual Assault by Sandusky Reported to Penn State

no description

A new allegation of sexual assault by Jerry Sandusky is under investigation.

Penn State’s police log for Tuesday showed that a ‘visitor reported they were sexually assaulted by a known person’ sometime between 2000 and 2010 in the Lasch Football Building.

University spokesman Wyatt DuBois confirmed the report was the result of a new allegation against Sandusky, the former Penn State football assistant and Second Mile charity founder, who was convicted in 2012 on 45 counts related to child sexual abuse.

‘This incident report is the result of the University’s internal and external reporting procedures upon receipt of a new allegation of abuse by Jerry Sandusky,’  DuBois said. ‘An investigation is ongoing and we have no further comment.’

The offenses listed in the report are two allegations of rape or attempted rape and two allegations of non-forcible statutory rape. Sandusky retired from Penn State in 2000 but continued to use campus facilities.

Sandusky was sentenced in 2012 to 30 to 60 years in state prison. He has maintained his innocence and continues to appeal. He is due in Centre County Court in November for re-sentencing after state Superior Court ruled mandatory minimums were improperly applied by the trial court. He also recently filed an appeal in federal court seeking a new trial or his release from prison.
