New Construction Project Set to Begin on Route 322

by on June 03, 2014 6:00 AM

Another construction project is slated to get underway -- one that could cause some headaches for State College residents heading to points east.

PennDot says work crews will be repairing a one-and-a-half mile stretch of Route 322 in Potter Township, beginning Thursday, June 5.

The work area begins at the Harley Davidson dealership and ends at Taylor Hill Road. Flaggers will be directing traffic with only one lane getting by at a time. Drivers are warned to expect short delays.

One bright note; the construction will take place at night between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Starting Thursday, crews will begin installing drainage pipes, a process that should take about two weeks.

In the next phase, they'll be adding a center turn lane, repaving the roadway and upgrading guard rails.

The contractor on the $4.9 million project is H.R.I., Inc. of State College.

The project is scheduled for completion sometime this fall.
