New Senior Living Community Under Construction with Plans for Fall Opening

A new living option for seniors will be coming to the area in the fall. The Crossings at State College currently is under construction at 121 Havershire Boulevard., across from the Penn State Golf Courses on Blue Course Drive.

The facility will provide 112 apartments offering personal care and memory care while allowing residents to live fulfilling lives, according to Sandra Kolder, of Harmony Senior Serves, the group that is opening the community.

“Memory care provides not only meaningful, but also engaging programming and oversight in a secured environment for those with various stages of memory loss and dementia,” said Kolder.

She said State College is in need of diverse choices for continuum-of-care senior living, which The Crossings will provide, “making it a beneficial resource to seniors and their loved ones.”

Memory loss is something many families have a difficult time experiencing, and the Harmony Square neighborhood in The Crossings community will be dedicated specifically to residents diagnosed with dementia. Staff will assist with all personal care, plus provide additional support and services designed to maintain the highest quality of life for residents, said Kolder.

The personal care community will be designed for individuals who need assistance with activities of daily living. Some highlights of its services include farm-to-table cuisine, weekly housekeeping and well-kept outdoor living areas. The staff also will provide planned activities and outings, according to Kolder, and The Crossings promises reasonable monthly rents with no upfront fees.

“The Crossings will give seniors access to everything they need to enjoy an affordable, carefree lifestyle,” said Kolder.
