No New COVID-19 Cases in Centre County for Second Consecutive Day

Centre County on Wednesday reported no new COVID-19 cases for the second day in a row, keeping the county's total number of cases a 154 since the first was reported on March 20.

It was the first time since May 1-2 the county has gone consecutive days without a new positive.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, 145 of the county's cases are confirmed and nine are probable.

Pennsylvania has had a total of 73,405 cases, with 511 new positives reported on Wednesday. It was the 24th consecutive day the state has reported fewer than 1,000 new cases.

DOH also added 75 new COVID-19 deaths to the statewide count on Wednesday, bringing the total to 5,742. The health department has reported seven deaths for Centre County, but the county coroner's office has confirmed only six. The health department lists deaths by county of residency, so it is likely a Centre County resident died elsewhere in the state.

An estimated 68 percent of patients with the virus — or about 49,915 Pennsylvanians — have recovered, according to the health department. Among the state's total cases, ‚Äč71,361 are confirmed and 2,044 are probable. 

In Centre County, confirmed cases by zip code are:

16823 (Bellefonte): 39

16801 (State College): 35

16803 (State College): 26

16827 (Boalsburg): 9 

16870 (Port Matilda): 9

16828 (Centre Hall), 16866 (Philipsburg), 16844 (Julian), 16841 (Howard), 16875 (Spring Mills), 16852 (Madisonburg) and 16872 (Rebersburg) each have 1-4 cases. Specific numbers are not provided for zip codes with fewer than five cases. 

In the past two weeks, the county has added 21 new cases.

Among Centre County's bordering counties, Huntingdon now has 232 cases, Union has 63, Clinton has 60, Mifflin has 59, Blair has 52 and Clearfield has 42. 

A total of 408,269 patients in Pennsylvania have tested negative for COVID-19, including 2,252 people in Centre County. Across the state, 1,302 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, with 258 requiring a ventilator, as of noon on Wednesday.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has had 1,835,681 cases of COVID-19, with 106,312 deaths and 463,868 recoveries.
