Onward State: Doors Closed for Remainder of THON
By Kevin Horne
The doors to the Bryce Jordan Center are officially closed and will be for the remainder of THON, it was announced Sunday morning.
“The doors [to the BJC] are closed and they will not be reopening,” said PR captain Sam Agostino.
The BJC officially reached “capacity” shortly before 4 a.m., despite many empty seats in the seating bowl. Rules and Regs members had been letting people enter periodically since then, although now no one else will be permitted to enter.
This is the earliest THON has ever closed its doors for the final reveal.
The issue of the growing line of students outside the BJC all night has been a thorn in the side of THON, with freezing temperatures and mass line cutting. Students were treated by EMS for hypothermic symptoms and thousands of students and family members waited upwards of four hours only to be shut out.
THON is advising that all students who are feeling cold to head to the IM building for warmth. THON is also being streamed to the large TVs in the HUB.
