John O'Keefe, owner of the former Dragon Chasers Emporium, waived his preliminary hearing on Tuesday in Berks County and will go to trial facing 44 counts of drug-related charges.

O'Keefe, 48, had a preliminary arraignment before Berks County Magisterial District Judge Thomas Xavios on Tuesday on 44 charges, including corrupt organizations, manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver and conspiracy, among others.

O'Keefe has a formal arraignment scheduled for 9 a.m. on Jan. 14 in Berks County.

According to court documents, state police filed a search warrant in February against O'Keefe and Dragon Chasers. Police were searching for the bath salts, which were declared illegal in Centre County in March.

Also in March, Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller filed civil litigation against three local businesses that she said she believed to be selling bath salts: Jamaica Junction, 111 S. Pugh St., the now-former Dragon Chasers Emporium, 115 S. Fraser St., and the Uni-Mart at 341 W. Lamb St. in Bellefonte.
