by on May 04, 2016 12:45 PM

With an influx of visitors expected in State College and on Penn State's University Park campus this weekend, both the borough and the university have issued updates on parking and traffic for Friday through Sunday.

In State College, the "No Parking 2-6 a.m." restriction will not be enforced beginning at 2 a.m. on Saturday. Enforcement of the restriction will resume at 2 a.m. on Monday. One- and two-hour parking restrictions will be lifted at noon on Friday, with enforcement resuming at 8 a.m. on Monday. Lawn parking also will be permitted during that time.

On the Penn State campus, travelers are being urged to allow extra time to reach their destinations throughout the weekend, and to follow parking and traffic guidelines for ceremonies at each of the university's commencement venues.

Bryce Jordan Center

To manage significant congestion in the areas around the Bryce Jordan Center, alternating lots will be filled for each commencement ceremony and drivers will be directed to lots by police and event parking staff based on traffic and parking conditions. General parking will be available for Jordan Center ceremonies at one or more of the following areas:

Lot 44, east of the Jordan Center and accessible from Porter Road via Park Avenue or College Avenue and Dauer Drive via University Drive.

Stadium West, west of Beaver Stadium and accessible only from Park Avenue.

Porter North, located north of Medlar Field and accessible from Porter Road via Park Avenue or College Avenue.

ADA parking will be available in designated areas of Lot 44 and Stadium West:

- Northwest corner of Lot 44 near Jordan Center Gate Band across from the All-Sports Museum (accessible from the intersection of Porter and Curtin Roads)

- A section of Lot Orange L located between the Bryce Jordan Center and Lot 44 (accessible from Dauer Drive via University Drive)

- The first three rows of parking in the southeast corner of Stadium West near Beaver Stadium, and the first four rows of the southwest corner of Stadium West near the intersection of University Drive and Curtin Road. All Stadium West parking is only accessible from Park Avenue.

Drivers are discouraged from dropping off or picking up guests from outside the designated ADA parking areas, which are accessible and located a short distance from the Jordan Center.

Curtin Road will be closed to vehicles between University Drive and the Lot 44 entrance throughout most of the ceremonies.

Eisenhower Auditorium

Visitors for ceremonies at Eisenhower Auditorium will be directed to park in Eisenhower Parking Deck, adjacent to the auditorium on Eisenhower Road. General and ADA parking will be available on each level of the deck with elevators located at the southwest corner.

The following travel recommendations are advised by Penn State for those attending Eisenhower ceremonies:

- Drivers are urged to avoid the Park Avenue exits from Route 220/I-99 and Route 322 as well as University Drive. Instead, useRoute 322 Business exits at South and North Atherton Streets to get to campus.

- From Atherton Street, drivers should approach Eisenhower from west campus using Park Ave or Curtin Road to Shortlidge or Bigler Road. From there, travel south to Eisenhower Road.

Following the College of Communications commencement ceremony on Saturday at the Jordan Center, a reception is scheduled at Pegula Ice Arena. College of Comm graduates and their guests should park in the East Parking Deck on Bigler Road between Curtin Road and Park Avenue. This allows attendees to avoid congestion from other ceremonies at the Jordan Center and the Penn State baseball game at Medlar Field.

ADA Parking for the College of Comm commencement and reception will be available at the section of Lot Yellow H at Shields Building on Curtin Road next to Pegula and across from the Jordan Center.
