It wasn't long ago that district attorney Stacy Parks Miller stood in front of a group of reporters with a photo of a dead woman in her hands, pleading for information.

That scene from two weeks ago, when Parks Miller offered a reward in the Jean Tuggy murder case, replayed itself on Thursday afternoon.

This time, Corinne Pena is the woman who died in Pine Grove Mills, found on the side of Plainfield Road early Sunday morning, dumped from and abandoned by an unknown vehicle.

"We don’t know a lot at this point," Parks Miller admitted. "We don’t know why she was here, who she was visiting, what she was doing, and what led her to come to Pine Grove Mills."

While Parks Miller readily admits that the police investigation is low on information at this point, she staunchly believes that someone in the area knows something. Parks Miller said that police believe Pena was living in Williamsport, and that evidence shows she has visited the State College area previously.

"There’s evidence that she had visited before and that’s who we’re looking for here in State College," she said. "Come on people… people here know her. It’s too silent out there. Nobody deserves to die like that, to end up outside by themselves. Show some compassion, do the right thing, and give us a call.”

Police have been in touch with Pena's family, but they still don't know much about the woman, which prompted Thursday's press conference.

"If one of your friends went missing and you saw them a day or two before, you could call the police and provide a lot of information," Parks Miller said. "You could call Detective Martin and say, ‘I know her. And this is who she hangs out with, and this is where she normally is, and this is who she pals around with on the weekends.’"

"That’s what we need to know, just the general biographical things about this young woman and details about her life and where she may have been the last few days," she added."

Police ask that anyone with information call 1-800-479-0050.
