Paterno, DelGrosso StoryCorps Interviews To Air This Week

on August 09, 2010 2:53 PM

The first StoryCorps conversation recorded in Bellefonte, featuring State College volunteer leader and philanthropist Sue Paterno and granddaughter Olivia Hort, 14, is scheduled for broadcast Tuesday morning on WPSU-FM.

A station schedule shows the segment will be broadcast during "Morning Edition" at 7:33 a.m. and again at 8:33 a.m. They can also be listened to online here.

The second StoryCorps conversation recorded in Bellefonte features Fred DelGrosso, of Tipton-based DelGrosso Foods Inc., and granddaughter Elizabeth Gilliland, also 14. Their conversation will be aired at 7:33 a.m. and 8:33 a.m. Wednesday on WPSU, according to the schedule.

WPSU has partnered with StoryCorps, a national nonprofit group that records, shares and archives people's oral histories. StoryCorps' MobileBooth, a mobile recording studio on a cross-country tour, is parked for four weeks in downtown Bellefonte. Workers there are recording local residents' stories.

All the recordings will be archived at the Library of Congress. Some will appear on WPSU, and a few may make it to broadcast nationally on NPR.

Recording sessions started last week. The Paterno and DelGrosso conversations were recorded on Thursday.

WPSU-FM is heard at 91.5 in the State College area. The live stream of the station's programming is available through its website.
