Penn State Baseball Turns Season Around to Earn No. 3 Seed in Big Ten Tournament

by on May 19, 2012 4:30 PM

The Penn State baseball team closed out its regular season Saturday afternoon with a 9-2 loss at Michigan State, but the body of work as a whole is among the best in the program’s recent history.

The Nittany Lions clinched the No. 3 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and will open the double-elimination tournament against Ohio State on Wednesday afternoon, a remarkable feat given the slow start to the season.

Penn State (29-25, 15-9 Big Ten) had just seven wins from Feb. 17-April 1. Since then, it’s had just seven losses. The Nittany Lions went 26-11 in their last 37 games.

Despite Saturday’s loss, it was the first time Penn State won three conference road series since 1996.
