Penn State Basketball: Big Night Awaits Frazier With NBA Draft

by on June 26, 2014 10:05 AM

By this time Friday former Penn State guard Tim Frazier will have a pretty good idea of what his options are moving forward with a professional basketball career.

He's hoping for a shot at the NBA but playing overseas is also a possibility.

With the NBA Draft only hours away though nothing has been set in stone, and after working out with six different NBA teams over the past several weeks, Frazier certainly has a shot.

The risk of potential picks and trades aside, there are 18 different draft slots where Frazier is most likely to go if he were to be drafted by one of the teams he worked out with. They are as follows:

Suns: 14, 18, 27, 50

Knicks: No Picks

Celtics: 6, 17

Timberwolves: 13, 40, 44, 53

Wizards: 46

Sixers: 3, 10, 32, 39, 47, 52, 54

Frazier won't go in the first round. That leaves 10 draft picks with teams that had Frazier in for a workout. Most of these picks are with Philadelphia but how many they have following what are probably inevitable trades remains to be seen.

The good news for Frazier though is that the Sixers apparently like him. They hosted him for two workouts. The other teams only invited him for one workout. Anyone who knows Frazier is well aware that he is happy to fill his role and stay out of trouble which is always a positive for a franchise looking to rebuild.

With a draft that has so much talent and with only two rounds of selections the odds are simply stacked against Frazier when it comes to hearing his name called Thursday night.

That said, if the Sixers are fond of him it wouldn't be surprising to see him packing his bags for Philly after the draft for more work as a free agent.
