Penn State Basketball: Carr And Reaves Headed To Summer League, Frazier Signs With Detroit

Penn State basketball fans will see at least three familiar faces in the coming weeks and potentially months as Tim Frazier signed a new deal while Tony Carr and Josh Reaves look to leave their mark in summer league action.

For the Houston native, Frazier will find himself in Detroit after signing with the Pistons on Monday afternoon. The NBA journeyman makes his sixth stop in the league having previously played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trailblazers, New Orleans Pelicans, Washington Wizards and most recently the Milwaukee Bucks. Frazier has made appearances in 245 NBA games with starts in 70 of them, 35 of those starts came in New Orleans during the 2016-17 season.

Frazier's deal is a one-year, $2 million contract according to the Detroit Free Press.

Penn State's current NBA appearances record is held by Bob Weiss who played in 783 games. More recently and more well known, John Amaechi appeared in 294 games.

Frazier's NBA career began in 2014 and he has thrived on his reliability off the bench and off the court, an asset he will likely bring with him to Detroit.

As for Carr, this is his second stint at the summer league level, returning to New Orleans to play on the 13-man roster that includes No.1 overall pick Zion Williamson. Carr was a second round pick by the Pelicans in 2018 but ultimately ended up playing in Italy for two separate teams, averaging just over 10 points a game at each stop.

Reaves went undrafted during the 2019 two-round event but will make his debut with the Dallas Mavericks during summer league play, he signed a two-way contract earlier in July and will likely spend the majority of his rookie season in the G-League, the NBA's developmental league.

Summer League begins July 5th in Las Vegas, the Pelicans play their first game the 5th at 9:30 EST on ESPN. The Mavericks play at 7:00 EST and that game will air on NBA TV.

All the three players find themselves in different stages of their careers, Frazier fairly established in his role, as Carr and Reaves look to keep their foot in the door, if the later can learn anything from the former, it's that staying the course is often the best course.
