Penn State Basketball: Carr Headed To NBA Combine

by on May 04, 2018 12:40 PM

Tony Carr is headed to the 2018 NBA Combine in Chicago from May 16-20th. The invitation-only event features roughly 60 players and general managers, scouts and coaches from all 30 teams in the NBA.

Carr enters the draft process looking to capitalize on his outstanding sophomore season. He became the first Penn State men’s basketball sophomore to earn All-Big Ten honors and eclipse the 1,000-point mark. Carr scored in double figures in 60 of his 70 career games and was instrumental in Penn State's 26-win season and eventual NIT Title victory at Madison Square Garden.

“Playing in the NBA has been my dream and I’m completely focused on that goal,” said Carr, in a release. “I’m grateful for the opportunities at the NBA Combine and the feedback I’ll receive following the workouts and other sessions.”

The Penn State leader in scoring and assists in each of the last two seasons, Carr topped the Big Ten Conference and ranked 19th nationally for total points with 725 in 2017-18.

"This is the next step for Tony in his pursuit of his dream,” said coach Patrick Chambers, who signed a four-year extension on Thursday. “We know he is prepared for this opportunity and we are excited to see what the future holds for him.”

Carr signed with Octagon Basketball in April, the agency represents multiple NBA players include Golden State Warrior guard Step Curry.

Where Carr will land in the NBA Draft on June 21st remains to be seen. So far mock drafts list him anywhere from late first round to just outside the two round selection process.

A good workout at the combine will do plenty to help his cause.
