Penn State Basketball: Newbill Headed To Durant Camp, Frazier NBA Journey Continues In Boston

by on June 01, 2014 6:00 AM

Former Nittany Lion Tim Frazier and senior guard DJ Newbill will continue on their respective paths in the coming weeks and months as both look to improve their game for the next level.

Frazier, already having worked out with the Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks will take his talents to Boston for a workout with the Celtics according to Penn State head coach Patrick Chambers.

"I can't confirm (specific date) but I know Boston is up next," Chambers said. "I think maybe June first or second so early next week. He's back in Houston this week, I talk to him after every workout. He feels great, he sounds great, he sounds more confident than he ever has. Going back to his junior year he sounded super confident and I hear it in his voice now, just a different player."

And as for the returning and all important Newbill, he'll be heading to camp with NBA MVP Kevin Durant for a skills camp. If he performs well there he'll get invited the LeBron James camp. If things pan out like they can Newbill will have spent a few weeks working with two of the best in the game and very likely at least one NBA champion.

"He's at KD at the end of the month," Chambers said. "He'll be there at the end of June and if he plays well there he'll go to LeBron which is great. We're getting the respect out there. Two guys on All-Conference teams, Tim goes to Deron Williams camp and DJ is going to Kevin Durant, i see progress in everything we're doing."
