Penn State Basketball: Nittany Lions Add 7-Footer In Transfer Satchel Pierce

by on May 06, 2016 4:36 PM

Penn State basketball will add another 7-footer to the roster as Virginia Tech transfer Satchel Pierce announced his transfer destination on Friday afternoon.

"Very excited to continue my career at Penn State!" Pierce tweeted.

Pierce's commitment comes on the tail end of a two day visit to Penn State. The seven-footer attended the Kiski School and was rated a three-star player and came in at seventh best in Pennsylvania for his 2014 recruiting class. While at Virginia Tech, Pierce averaged 2.6 point and 2 rebounds per game. He played in 51 contests during two seasons with the Hokies.

Pierce must sit out the upcoming season per NCAA transfer rules but will give Penn State an immediate boost in size as the Nittany Lions enter a crucial year under head coach Patrick Chambers.

The Nittany Lions will welcome Terrence Samuel to the active roster this season after the UConn transfer sat out last year. Samuel is a possible starting candidate despite Penn State's heralded incoming recruiting class, rated No. 20 in the nation by Scout.com
