Penn State basketball added a second member to its 2021 class on Friday evening as Oakland, California native Houston Mallette verbally committed, announcing his decision on Twitter.

"To head coach Chambers, Coach Urgo, AD Sandy Barbour and the entire Penn State family - thank you for this opportunity. I am blessed to be a Nittany Lion. I will give you my absolute best and nothing less, every single day." Mallette said in a tweet.

Mallette, a 6-foot-5 combo guard is rated a three-star prospects according to the 247 Network and the 19th best prospect in the state. He reportedly had offers from the likes of Eastern Washington, Long Beach State and Loyola Marymount, among others.

The commitment marks the second from California under coach Pat Chambers. Former Nittany Lion, Payton Banks is the only other west coast product to make the long trip to State College to play basketball. Banks, who played for Penn State from 2014-17 before transferring to South Florida for his final season of eligibility, hailed from Orange County.

Mallette joins power forward TaQuan Woodley in the 2021 class after Woodley verbally committed on Monday.
