Penn State Basketball: Nittany Lions To Add Former Top 50 Recruit To 2019 Roster

Penn State men's basketball will add the services of graduate transfer guard Curtis Jones, formerly of Indiana and most recently of Oklahoma State. The program will announce the roster addition later on Tuesday. According to a source Jones committed to the program on Monday night.

Jones entered the NCAA Transfer portal near the end of May, and while the senior guard has yet to graduate from Oklahoma State, earlier reports indicate that he is scheduled to complete his degree this summer, becoming immediately eligible to play in 2019.

The addition of Jones makes up for the loss of rising sophomore guard Rasir Bolton who recently transferred to Iowa State. While a single season of eligibility for Jones won't quite equate to several years of Bolton, he does bring with him both a Division I ready body and a wide range of experiences.

Jones averaged 21 minutes a game last season while at Oklahoma State to go with 8.1 points and three rebounds per contest. He scored 19 points in a narrow 72-67 loss to Kansas last March.

A member of the 2016 recruiting class, Penn State previously offered Jones prior to his eventual commitment to Indiana. At the time Jones was rated the 40th best prospect in the nation by ESPN and a four-star recruit. Jones was largely a non-factor during his two years with the Hoosiers, but he did play 11 minutes during Penn State's triple-overtime loss to Indiana during the 2016-17 and scored four points a few weeks later in a win at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Penn State will welcome Jones to campus along with three other new faces in freshmen Seth Lundy, Patrick Kelly and Abdou Tsimbila. Transfer guard Izaiah Brockington is now also eligible after sitting out a year per NCAA rules.
