Penn State Basketball: Pat Ackerman Returns Following Suspension
Penn State sophomore forward Pat Ackerman is back with the team, fully reinstated according to coach Patrick Chambers.
"Back on the team," Chambers said. Ackerman had been suspended since Nov. 28 for an unspecified violation of team rules. Ackerman was seen warming up with the team prior to Saturday's 80-76 overtime victory over Delaware State.
"Fully reinstated, he did what he needed to do and he's got to continue on the right path and continue to earn trust and I think he'll continue to do that," Chambers said. "You hope he learned his lesson."
Ackerman has appeared in two games this season, scoring two points against Bucknell on Nov. 23. With the pending medical redshirt for All-Big Ten guard Tim Frazier and the addition of five new players, including Pittsburgh transfer guard John Johnson, for the 2013-14 season, Penn State currently stands two players over the NCAA allotted limit.
However, suspensions during the Chambers' era have not spelled the end to a player's career. Junior guard Jermaine Marshall was suspended last preseason following a violation of team rules but only missed the opening game.
