Penn State Basketball: Sheldon Jeter Picks Vanderbilt Over Nittany Lions
After months of speculation and official visits, Beaver Falls small forward Sheldon Jeter announced that he will be attending Vanderbilt in 2012.
"Next year I'm playing at Vanderbilt University." Jeter tweeted.
The 6-foot-7, 210-pound Jeter, who is ranked No. 150 in Rivals.com Top 150 of the 2012 recruiting class, made the decision Thursday night between Penn State, Wisconsin, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.
Jeter visited Penn State last week on an official visit, taking a tour of Beaver Stadium, meeting new football coach Bill O'Brien, spending time with basketball coach Patrick Chambers and his staff, while getting to know the players currently on the team.
For Chambers and his staff, while missing out on Jeter is a tough loss, they don't go in to the first weekend of May empty handed. Donovon Jack, a 6'9" center from Reading Pa,. and once Duquesne commit, signed his letter of intent Thursday morning and will play for the Nittany Lions in 2012.
Trenton Catholic Academy (Tabernacle, Pa.) star forward Brandon Taylor and small forward Akosa Maduegbunam from Winchendon School (Charlestown, Mass.) currently make up Penn State's 2012 recruiting class. The Nittany Lions are looking to fill the roster after the departure of Trey Lewis, Matt Glover, Peter Alexis, Cam Woodyard, and Billy Oliver.
