Penn State Basketball: Shooting Forward Myles Dread First Commit Of 2018 Class

With Penn State's staff on the road across the country this summer, the travel finally paid off as the Nittany Lions added D.C. shooting forward Myles Dread to the fold on Sunday.

"After a long conversation with my family and coaches, we've decided that Penn State is the best fit for me." Dread said on Twitter when he announced his decision Sunday evening.

Dread is not only the first commitment for the 2018 class but the first from Washington DC high school Gonzaga High. Dread is the second player from AAU squad Team Takeover to commit to Penn State, following in the footsteps of sophomore guard Josh Reaves.

Dread comes in at 6-foot-4, 205 pounds and is yet to be ranked by most major recruiting outlets although the 2018 class will generally come into focus by late fall with Dread quite possibly picking up more notoriety along the way.

Regardless, it's another victory for coach Pat Chambers and his staff as they slowly chip away a niche in the Maryland, Philadelphia and Virginia recruiting territories. The last eight future or current Nittany Lions to commit to Penn State have come from the above areas.
