Penn State Basketball: Tim Frazier Reportedly Set To Sign 10-Day Contract With Sixers

by on February 05, 2015 6:00 AM

Former Nittany Lion Tim Frazier is reportedly going to get his shot at the NBA with a 10-day contract.

According to Yahoo Sports' Marc Spears, Frazier is expected to sign the 10-day contract with the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday so he can practice with the team in Boston.

Frazier should get plenty of time on the court as he looks to make the most of his chances. The Sixers will play three games while Frazier is under this first contract -- at Boston and then at home against Charlotte and Golden State. If anything, Frazier should be fully comfortable in his role by the time his stiffest test rolls around.

Currently Frazier is a member of the Maine Red Claws D-league team, an affiliate of the Boston Celtics. The former Penn State standout is averaging 15.9 points, 8.9 assists and 6.8 rebounds so far this year in D-League action.

This won't be the first time Frazier has worked with the Sixers. He played summer league with the Philadelphia organization before eventually signing a preseason training camp contract with Boston.

What happens next remains to be seen, but certainly Frazier's determination to stay in the states and work toward a possible NBA career will have paid off, at least temporarily, as he suits up for regular season NBA action this week.
